ENGLISH BIO:

Tomas Drex has been in DJing since the year 1998 when he made his initial attempts to synchronize first beats using at the time simple mixing software. In 2000, he went on to turntables and, after a few months of training, he started playing at minor parties. Organizing his own events was the next logical step – together with a few other enthusiasts, he would liven up the then nearly non-existent West-Bohemian dance scene. It didn’t take long before bookings for major events from all corners of Bohemia started coming in.

In the year 2003, he participated in the DJs LIVC/BASSLINE CUP – western region competition where he was placed second. A year later, he started to experiment with music production, gradually fitting up his home studio. Nowadays, he’s had behind him several tracks and remixes published on labels such as RELDZ, Disturbulence, Unaffected etc. At the beginning of the year 2012, he published his New Era track on the well-known Italo Business label which is used for publishing by figures such as UMEK, Da Fresh, Angy Kore, Piatto and others. At the end of February 2013 he released EP on big techno label Naked Lunch. Tomas Drex is currently working on new tracks and planning on compiling his debut album next year.

In the year 2007, he founded the successful Skillz Brothaz project together with a friend and participated in the birth of Undergroundcity.cz, a music info server of which continues to be the editor.

In 2008, he put aside his turntables and, thanks to a cooperation with a leading Czech DJ shop he co-founded, started using the state-of-the-art digital technologies, notably Ableton+Traktor+MIDI controllers, which allow him to sample in his mixes a great deal of his own production in any form. Nevertheless, he often plays from CD players as well and this for a simple reason – he enjoys mixing songs manually.

In the year 2011, he launched his new show called Tomas Drex PODCAST which lets you listen to new music releases, information and mix from special guest – every new month.

You can expect from Tomas Drex a combination of tech-house and techno music. He has played in a host of clubs and places not only in all of the Czech Republic but also in the Netherlands, Germany and Slovakia and has worked alongside numerous Czech as well as foreign famous artists.
